Key Notes

I can deliver formal presentations and speeches to various audiences, including sport, business and education sections.

Working with Ryan allowed me to execute my Ironman race to the max of my ability. He helped me break down the process and gave me solutions to areas I was concerned about. Having these mental coping mechanisms allowed me not only to execute the race plan but also enjoy it along the way. Previously I’d allowed race anxieties to get the better of me but with Ryan’s help I was able to deploy methods which helped maximise my performance on the day.

Working with Ryan has enabled me to approach my job with a clear mind, helping me to view situations differently. I've also applied things from the sessions to my life outside my sport... Very highly recommended

Find out about Ryan image

Below you'll find answers to the most common questions Ryan is asked.

We will spend your first session getting to know each other to give Ryan a better understanding of why you've reached out for sport psychology support. This also gives us a great foundation for Ryan to know where he can best apply his skills and knowledge to help you.
To book a session, just call, message, or email Ryan - whichever you find most comfortable. Ryan will then schedule an appointment for a time that suits you best. Sport psychology sessions should be an addition to your life, but not get in the way of it.  Ryan has sessions available over the week that can fit around any training plan or lifestyle.
Every individual is different, so we tailor the number of sessions to fit both the person and their needs. Some individuals make progress in just 3-5 sessions, whereas others need more or want to use it more consistently (such as during their competitive season or prior to a big event). Often, individuals will have many sessions across their careers because they enjoy using sport psychology services to “keep up” with their mental training, just as they would with physical training. Many athletes also keep up sessions outside of the regular season.
Depending on the athlete, parent(s) may choose to attend sessions or may be asked to attend if we feel it is important in helping your child. At other times, we might specifically ask to work one-on-one with your child. In these cases, we routinely take time to fill you in about what was worked on. With individuals under 12, it is recommended to have parents present in all sessions. With athletes under 18, an adult needs to be present, or the meeting has to take place in a public place. For work with minors, Ryan always has fully up to date CRB/DBS check which can be seen on request to ensure safety on all parts.
All work with any athlete remains confidential between the client and the consultant. For any information that is shared (such as for testimonials, research etc.) prior consent will always be sought. Additionally, consultancies may reveal information that requires specific professional support which is out of Ryan's professional competency area. In this case Ryan will sought out the appropriate professional who can best deal with the situation. Confidentiality will only be waivered if the client is deemed in direct danger due to information revealed during consultancies.
We accept PayPal for online courses. We also accept payment via Bank Transfer. Cash can be used for in-person, face-to-face consultancies.
The professional title of 'Qualified Sports Psychologist' is legally protected by the Heath Care Professionals Council. Any individual holding this title will have successfully completed an Undergraduate Degree, a Masters Degree and further professional training through the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
These titles and accreditations are a guarantee of professional competency and ensure you are receiving expert care. Qualified personnel will generally have a minimum of 2 years or 200 days experience working with athletes within sporting environments.

If you are in doubt of a Sport Psychologist status, you are able to search for them on the HCPC register (www.hcpc-uk.org/check-the-register/). You will find Ryan on there and his registration number is PYL039208.

If you work with a individual referring to themselves as a 'Sport Psychologist' who is unable to produce their professional certification, or you are unable to find them on the HCPC register, you cannot be certain of their knowledge and understanding; they may also be operating without insurance.
